James Shelton

James Howard Shelton, 70, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020 at his residence.

Born on September 2, 1949 in Acworth, he was the son of the late Howard Shelton and the late Maudie McCollum Seigs. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Linda Waits Shelton; and his sisters, Joyce Farist and Joan Prewett.

James served his country in the Vietnam War and went on to retire from Chemical Products after more than 40 years of service. He loved to fish and enjoyed all sporting events. He was most passionate about his grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Shannon Wright (Danny), Jeremy Shelton (Nicole), and Kayla Burnett (Alan); his grandchildren, Heath Smith, Sydney Stokes (Terrence), Garrett Shelton, Tyler Shelton, Kelsie Burnett, Katlyn Burnett, and Peyton Wingo; his great-grandchildren, Jayden Smith, Riley Smith, Grayson Smith, and Kira Stokes; and his sisters, Gwen Goss and Kathy Vaughn.

Due to continuing Covid restrictions a visitation limited to 10 people at a time and social distancing will be held at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2020. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. pm Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Liberty Hill Cemetery with Reverend Mark Harris officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jayden Smith, Garrett Shelton, Tyler Shelton, and Terrence Stokes.
