Mr. James Mitchell Tanner, Sr, 69, of Acworth, died on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at his residence. Born in Acworth, November 7, 1946, he was the son of the late Clyde Tanner, Sr. and Sarah Lillian Hilburn Tanner.
James attended Eagle Pointe Church and was a veteran having served his country in the United States Army. He was a very sensitive, kind person who was the primary caretaker for his loving wife for the a number of years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 304 in Acworth and enjoyed genealogy and loved his animals.
Survivors include his son, James Mitchell Tanner II and wife, Laura of Adairsville; his grandson, Robin Tanner; his step-son, Charles Coleman III and wife, Sarah of Huntersville, North Carolina; his step-daughter, Jane Coleman Sidler and husband, David of Acworth; his grandchildren, Madison Coleman, Cameron Napier, Raygan Napier, William Sidler, Charles H. Coleman IV, Jackson Lewis Coleman and Caroline Coleman; his siblings, Marie Blackburn of Acworth, Kathy Bentz of Birmingham, Alabama, Clyde Tanner, Jr and wife, Carolyn and Henry Tanner and wife, Kathy all of Acworth along with several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 5, 2016 in Liberty Hill Cemetery with The Reverend Joe Nix officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Bartow Valley Humane Society, 36 Ladds Mountain Road, Cartersville, Georgia 30120 in James' memory.
