James Thomas

Mr. James A. Thomas, Sr. age 75, of 83 Angel Road SW, Cave Spring, GA, died Tuesday, October 7, 2008.



Mr. Thomas was born in Floyd County, GA, on April 8, 1933, the son of the late Tarry Frank Thomas and Roxie Ann Johnson Thomas. In addition to his parents Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-nine years, Betty Frances McAteer Thomas; two grandchildren, Andrea Thomas and Anthony Thomas; a brother, Rev. William Franklin Thomas; and a sister, Mildred Caudill.



Mr. Thomas is survived by two sons, James A Thomas, Jr. and Terry W. Thomas both of Adairsville, GA; a daughter, Nancy Owens of Cave Spring, GA; seven grandchildren, Jason Owens, Jeremy Owens, Andrew Thomas, Jake Thomas, Alex Thomas, Joseph Thomas, and Jordon Thomas; five great-grandchildren, Tyler Owens, Nathan Owens, Ethan Owens, Casandra Owens, and Aubree Owens; two brothers, Paul Thomas of Silver Creek, GA and Hubert Thomas of Rome; and two sisters, Louise Allen of Rome and Glenda Earley of Rome. Several nieces and nephews also survive.



Funeral services will be held Friday, October 10, 2008, at 2:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Alex Lawhon officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.



The family will receive friends in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home on Thursday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.



The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Heritage Chapel by 1:30 P.M. on Friday: Jeremy Owens, Jason Owens, Jake Thomas, Alex Thomas, Keith Brewer, Nicky Brewer, Bobby Owens, and Alex Lawhon II.
