James Twilley

James Randell Twilley, 70, of Cartersville passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Cartersville Medical Center. Born July 2, 1939 in Paulding County he was the son of the late William Rufus Twilley and the late Delia Mae Thomason Twilley. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Bill Twilley, Ann McAdams, Lester Thomason, Alma Brown, and Lance Twilley; and a special brother-in-law, Frank Hibbard.



Randell was employed as a heavy equipment operator with E.R. Snell until the time of his retirement. He was a member of the Narrow Way Baptist Church and was a Mason. Anyone who knew Randell witnessed his captivating and colorful personality. Randell had a passion for music and singing. It was a legacy that he passed down to his entire family. During his music career he had the privilege of performing with entertainers such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Brenda Lee, Ray Stevens, and Ray Charles. His children and grandchildren loved to hear the stories of his musical days and �chasing that neon rainbow.� Randell had a strong love of sports. He was the �world�s greatest coach� from the comfort of his recliner. Randell will be greatly missed by all those who knew him and understood that to know him was to love him.



Survivors include his wife, Grace Hall Twilley of Cartersville; his son and daughter-in-law, Casey and Melanie Twilley of Euharlee; his daughters and sons-in-law, Sherri and Dave Farmer of Dallas, Robin and Matt Oram of Cartersville, and Trecia and Burch Fannin of Cartersville; his grandchildren, Stormy Ruff, Lakin Ross, Ashley Cole, Destinee Farmer, Savannah Townsend, Grace Twilley, Blake Fannin, Mason Twilley, Jacie Fannin, and Jolie Fannin; his great-grandchild, Ellie Ross; step-children, Kenneth Ferguson, Charlotte Martin, and Carla Bailey; step-grandchildren, Dillon Toole, Hannah Toole, Jeffery Ferguson, Sarah Bailey, Brad Martin, and Tiffany Willey; his step-great grandchild, Caleb Willey; his siblings, Virginia Powell, Jean Brown, Larry Twilley, and Delia Thomas; several nieces and nephews; the mother of his children, Bobbie Worsham; a special brother in law, Meredith Brown; and his beloved dogs, Pumpernickel, and Radar.



Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2010 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Hershel Tibbetts, Rev. Jimmy Tibbetts, and Rev. Michael Abernathy officiating. Burial will follow at Narroway Baptist Church Cemetery in Dallas.



Serving as pallbearers will be Dale Hibbard, Eric Powell, Shane Brown, Joe Collum, Steve Callahan, and Kirk Powell. Honorary pallbearers will be Mason Twilley, and Blake Fannin. These gentlemen are asked to be at the funeral home by 1:15 p.m. on Sunday.



The family received friends from 5 � 9 Saturday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
