Janet �Jeanette� S. Elrod, 96, of Rydal passed away Sunday, November 06, 2011 at her residence. Born June 7, 1915 in Snoraville, she was the daughter of the late Thomas M. Smith and the late Naomi Black Smith. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Weldon M. Roberts, Sr.; her second husband, Bob Elrod; her son, Billy S. Roberts; and her granddaughter, Leslie A. Roberts. Jeanette was employed by the United States Postal Service as the Post Mistress of Pine Log for thirty-five years and had been a member of Pine Log United Methodist Church since childhood.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Max Roberts (Janice); her grandsons, Robbie Roberts (Becky), and Jason Roberts; her granddaughter, Kristy Roberts; five great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter; her former daughter-in-law, Elaine Pollard; her sister, Helen S. Lipscomb; her step-daughters and their spouses, Joyce Sullivan (Billy), Peggy Cornwell, and Sandra Cline (Frankie); and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Pine Log United Methodist Church with the Reverend Geoff Grubbs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state from 2 � 3 p.m. prior to the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Nally, Rusty Cobb, Greg Sharpton, Jim Goldbeck, Wade Wilson, and Jimmy Ford. These gentlemen are asked to be at the church by 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
The family will receive friends from 5 � 8 p.m. on Monday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
In lieu of flowers those desiring may make memorial contributions to Pine Log United Methodist Church, 3497 Pine Log Rd., Rydal, GA 30171.
