Janice Cagle, 70, of Cartersville Georgia, passed away peacefully October 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving husband and children. Her passing comes after a courageous fight against Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS).
Janice was born on September 24, 1956, in Canton, Georgia. She was a devout believer in Christ and a faithful member of New Covenant Church of Cartersville.
She found joy in the simple, beautiful things – a good, strong cup of coffee, time in her garden, crafting special gifts made by hand with love, and every single minute she could get with her family. Some of her major accomplishments were becoming the first female fixer at Shaw Industries Plant 13, maintaining industrial machinery and equipment, becoming a master cosmetologist, a published poet, and book author.
She was preceded by her beloved husband of 49 years-Raymond Cagle, her brothers Johnny, James, Charles, Stacy, and Tony. As well as her sister Joan and grandson Caleb.
She is survived by her husband, Conley Strand; her four children Bo (Nikki) Cagle, Misty (Richard) Hardin, Brandy (Timmy) Hicks, and Miranda Hovers; four grandsons Seth (Kayla) Hardin, Cameron Floyd, Tanner Hovers, and Hayden Hicks; two granddaughters Taylor Hicks and Amber Hardin; two great grandchildren Jameson Hardin and Averie Hicks. In addition to a multitude of nieces and nephews, she also leaves behind a host of extended family and special friends who loved her dearly.
She was more than a woman battling a terrible disease. She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, sister, and friend. She was a woman who loved deeply, laughed wholeheartedly, and gave generously of herself. She was a fighter long before ALS entered her life, and she remained one until her final breath.
The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support during her illness.
A celebration of Janice’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 29, 2026 at New Covenant Church of Cartersville. Burial will follow in White United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm prior to the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Seth Hardin, Cameron Floyd, Tanner Hovers, Hayden Hicks, Stoney Smith, and Jimmy Hannah.
