Mr. J D Mobbs, age 79, of Rome, GA died Thursday, January 7, 2010 peacefully surrounded by his wife and children.
Mr. Mobbs was born on September 9, 1930 to the late Raymond Mobbs and Myrtle Lee Allen Mobbs. Mr. Mobbs was employed by the Floyd County Public Works from 1971 until his retirement in September, 1991. Mr. Mobbs was of the Baptist faith. JD was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was loved and respected by everyone who was fortunate to have known him. He will be dearly missed by his family. In addition to his parents Mr. Mobbs was preceded in death by his brothers, R. B. Mobbs and Franklin Mobbs, sisters, Kathrine Wessinger, Eltha Henderson and Hattie Langston and also by a grandson, Wesley Eugene Ryales.
Survivors include his wife Martha Jo Jackson Mobbs to whom he married in 1951; daughters, Deborah Ryales and (Leon), Rita Robinson and (James), Linda Roberson and (Donny), sons, Danny Mobbs and (Brenda ) and Michael Mobbs and (Sandra); brothers, Russell Mobbs and (Ann), Eddie Mobbs, Herbert Mobbs and (Sue ) and by a sister, Gracie Mae Deaton and the late Buddy Deaton. Fourteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 9, 2010, at 1:00 P.M in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Marvin Mobbs officiating. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home.
The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet at the funeral home by 12:30 P.M. on Saturday: Donny Roberson, II, Keith Stover, Joshua Wright, Jerry Rowe, William Hoyt, and Lee Husser.
