Jean Mathison

December 23, 1935 — October 6, 2008

Mary Jean Mathison, age 72, of Adairsville, died Monday, October 06, 2008 at Cartersville Medical Center. Born in Floyd County on Dec. 23, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Percy Jack Huckaby and Nobie Lucille Pledger. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Church. She worked with her husband as co-owner of Shopwise Hardware Store and Shopwise Groceries. Mrs. Mathison enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning and helping people. Preceding her in death are her parents; two sons, Howell Smith of Rome and Randy Mathison of Cartersville; her brothers, Lamar, Bill, J.C. and Junior Huckaby all of Rome; and her mother-in-law, Mamie Lou Mathison of Cartersville.



Survivors include her husband of thirty �four years, Billy Mathison of Adairsville; her daughters and son-in-law, Teresa and David Meyer of Adairsville; Mandy Akers of Adairsville; her sons and daughter-in-law, Rick and Pam Mathison of Cartersville; Danny Smith of Cartersville; her brothers and sister-in-law, Johnny and Nancy Huckaby of Lindale; three sisters and brother-in-law, Linda and Wayne Atkins of Cedartown; Edith Jackson of Cave Springs; and Ann Lewis of Rome; her father-in-law, Charles Mathison of Cartersville; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bobby and Marcy Mathison of Cartersville; thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.



Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Oct. 8, 2008 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Ron Williams and Rev. Michael Abernathy officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1:15 p.m. and will include: Michael Day, Josh Mathison, Scott Atkins, David Meyer, Wayne Atkins, and Bobby Mathison. Serving as honorary will be Charles Mathison and Rick Mathison. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 -9 p.m.
