Jean Smith

Jean Painter Smith, 74, of Cartersville, died on Monday, Sept 4, 2017 at Townsend Park Health and Rehab. She was born in Ellijay on June 28, 1943 to the late Ralph Painter and Agnes Rogers Painter.

Jean was a member of Heritage Baptist Church and Omega Sunday School Class. She enjoyed bowling and traveling with "The Classic 5". In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Winnie Davenport, Viola Puckett and Nell Sellers; brothers, Oscar Painter, Arthur Painter and Ed Painter.

Survivors include her children, Sidney D. Smith, Jr. and wife, Becky, Doyal A. Smith, and Shari J. Smith-Robinson and husband, Tommy; her brothers, Austin Painter and Fred Painter; her sister, Jo McClure and husband, Harvey; and her lifelong best friend and business partner, Connie Abernathy.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Tutterow officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 -7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Carl Abernathy, Bryan Abernathy, Ronnie Lane, Stuart Lane, Shane Worsham and Zeke Reed.
