Jeanelle Free Thomas, 79, of Cartersville died Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the Cartersville Medical Center. In declining health since August, she now has perfect health in her heavenly home.



Born May 15, 1930 in Polk County, Georgia, Jeanelle helped out on the family farm and learned to be a great cook. Her peach cobblers, black walnut cakes, and delicious biscuits were in demand wherever she took them. When she left the farm, Jeanelle worked in the textile industry at E.Z. Mills and Cartersville Undergarment until her disability retirement in 1982.



Jeanelle was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Kingston and faced her death with the assurance of eternal life with her Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Cartersville Lodge #329 and Rockmart Lodge #321 for forty years. She held many offices including Grand Representative of Mississippi and several stations in the Grand Chapter of Georgia. She was also a member of Woodmen of the World #1975 in Adairsville. With her Eastern Star �sisters,� Jeanelle loved to travel around the United States visiting other Chapters. Between those trips and family vacations, she visited 47 states, Mexico, and Canada. She made friends everywhere she went.



Jeanelle was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey Free and Willie Bell Brewer Free; her sisters, Martha Womack and Betty Moore; her first husband, Ralph Earwood; and her stepsons, Charles Jimmy Thomas Jr. and Glenn Howard Thomas.



Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 44 years, Charles J. Thomas of Cartersville; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Jo Ann and Eddie Branton of Kingston; granddaughters, Shiana Faith Thomas and Emily Michelle Thomas, both of Lake Waccamaw, NC; brother and sister in law, Harvey and Brenda Free of Cartersville; sister, Sheila West of Rockmart; special family friends, Robert, Angie, Taea, Micah, and Jarek Albonico of Spearfish, S.D. and Dawn and Denna Jacobs of Lake Waccamaw, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2010 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Charles Moore and Rev. Ted Towns officiating. Burial will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Clarence Brock Jr., Roy Chambers, John D. Hooker, Jimmy Rampley, Scott Moore, Dwayne McCrary, and Jimmy Morris.



The family will receive friends from 6 � 9 p.m. Saturday and from 1 � 3 p.m. on Sunday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
