Mrs. Jeanette M. "Janet" Stephens, 85, of Cartersville and formerly of Buckhead and Roswell, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Born April 11, 1923 in Nashville, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Irvin Myers and the late Rhonda Gaskins Myers and the widow of the late Lynn Stephens.
Mrs. Stephens and her husband began their business careers together by owning and operating McClure Appliance Sales and Service in Buckhead. They were also members of Second Ponce De Leon Baptist Church. In addition to their other civic activities, Mrs. Stephens was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
After they sold their business in Buckhead, Mr. and Mrs. Stephens owned and operated Fair Oaks Paint and Hardware in Marietta. After her husband's death in 1979, Mrs. Stephens eventually moved to Cartersville where she lived a full, active life and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2008 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Dr. Don Hattaway officiating. Burial will follow in Kennesaw Memorial Park. Family and friends will gather during the hour prior to the service.
