Jeannie Hensley

Mrs. Jeannie Williams Hensley, 59, of Adairsville passed away Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the Redmond Regional Hospital in Rome. Born March 14, 1949 in Cartersville, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Milton Williams, Sr. and the late Katie Collins Williams. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Lloyd Milton Williams, Jr.
A 1967 graduate of Auburndale High School in Polk County, Florida, Jeannie was a former special education paraprofessional at Hamilton Crossing Elementary School, Kingston Elementary School, and Cass High School. She accepted Jesus Christ at the age of nine and spent her entire life serving the Lord. Jeannie was a member of Grace Baptist Church where she served as a keyboardist with her sisters, sang alto in the Celebration Choir, played saxophone in the church orchestra, and was actively involved in Sunday school and Vacation Bible School.
Using her special gift of creativity, Jeannie directed the drama program at church to correlate with special choir performances, painted background sets, and created costumes. She also designed floral arrangements and other decorations for the church, and she was involved in establishing and operating the church library media center.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Lonnie B. Hensley; her son, Bruce Hensley; her daughters, Alysha Hensley, Miranda Hensley, and Cally Hensley; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Mardean and Jim DeShazo of White and Linda and Bill McCoy of Cartersville; her sister-in-law, Janet Simmons of Adairsville; her aunts and uncles; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Harris officiating. Jeannie will lie in state at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until the funeral hour. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Ray, Spence McCoy, Mark DeShazo, David DeShazo, Kenny Darnell, and Johnny Collins.
The family will receive friends from 5 � 8 p.m. Monday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
