Mr. Jeremy David Whiteside, age 24, of 151 Boyd Road, SW, Rome, GA, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2006 in Centre, Alabama.Mr. Whiteside was born in Floyd County, GA, on November 7, 1981, the son of David and Gaynell Whiteside. He attended Flint Hill Baptist Church and Rome Word of Life Church. Jeremy gave his life to Christ as a teenager. Mr. Whiteside graduated from Pepperell High School in 2000, where he played football. After high school he played with the Flint Hill Baptist Church Softball Team and enjoyed working out. He worked for Electrical Testing Incorporated in Rome. Mr. Whiteside loved the outdoors and was a motorcycle enthusiast. He once told his brother that the thing he enjoyed most was riding his motorcycle down along the Florida coastline without his helmet, feeling the wind against his face. He liked wake boarding and all water activities. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends and always lived life to the fullest. Mr. Whiteside was devoted to his family and friends and was loved by many. He never met a stranger, was fun loving, quick witted, sensitive and adventurous. He never left home without his cell phone and he broke many young girls hearts. Mr. Whiteside was preceded in death by his grandparents, Malon and Kathleen Pruitt and John Whiteside.Survivors include his parents, David and Gaynell Whiteside of Rome; brother and sister in-law, Anthony Eric and Neely Whiteside of Rome; a nephew, Eli Whiteside; grandmother, Emma Mae Baugh of Rome. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday at Bush Arbor Baptist Church with Rev. Don Spears and Rev. Mishie Bojczuk officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. On Wednesday Mr. Whiteside will be carried to the church to lie in-state from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.The family will receive friends at the Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home tonight (Tuesday) from 6:00 until 9:00 pm. At other hours the family may be contacted at the residence.Pallbearers include, Nick Swindle, Adam Colston, Tom Ayer, Joshua Seagraves, Shane Forsyth, Charlie Crider and Mitch Bowles.
