Mr. Jerry �Frog� Blackmon, 58, of Cartersville passed away Friday, January 16, 2009 at the Cartersville Medical Center. Born March 30, 1950 in Cartersville, he was the son of Lois and Jimmy Blackmon. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bob and Fannie Blackmon and Beulah and Elisha Mulkey.
Jerry was a Georgia certified batch man and began his career in concrete with Harris Concrete and continued with Allied Ready Mix. Jerry loved to work, and as a young man would walk to work at Lewis Carpet. As the oldest of seven children, he took on the responsibility of helping care for his siblings and family. Jerry also loved hunting, fishing and cooking, and he was of the Holiness faith.
Survivors include his mother and father, Lois and Jimmy Blackmon; his sons and daughter-in-law, Lamar and Felicia Blackmon and Tommy Blackmon; his daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Joseph Overby; his grandchildren, Stephen Blackmon, Austin Blackmon, Zachary Blackmon, Jordan Blackmon, Jesse Blackmon, Joseph Overby, Collin Overby, Mathew Blackmon, Amber Blackmon, and Bethany Blackmon; his brothers, Jimmy Blackmon, Larry Blackmon and Ronnie Blackmon; his sisters, Doris Lee, Lillie Knight and Cathy Hardman; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2009 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. I.L. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Overby, Jesse Blackmon, Austin Blackmon, Stephen Blackmon, Mickey Hardman, Randal Martin, and Wayne Lee. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers are requested to meet at the funeral home by 1:15 p.m. on Sunday.
The family will receive friends from 5 � 9 p.m. Saturday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
