Jerry Kown

March 14, 1935 — May 16, 2010

Jerry Kown, 75, of Cartersville passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010 at his residence after a brief battle with cancer. Born March 14, 1935 in Cartersville, he was the son of the late Lewis Wilson Kown and the late Grace Mansfield Kown. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Kown; and by a very special friend who also passed away three days ago, Frances Micheli.



A graduate of Cartersville High School, Jerry attended Georgia Tech and was a graduate of Southern Tech. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. Jerry was also an airplane mechanic and was employed by Delta Airlines for twenty-eight years until his retirement. He enjoyed working on old cars, country music, and piddling around the house and was a member of Cartersville Family Church.



Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Christa Ruetze Kown; his son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Seleana Kown of Cartersville; his daughters and son-in-law, Kelly Kown of Key West, Florida and Christa and James Evans of Cartersville; several cousins; and a special friend, Isaac.



A celebration of Jerry�s life will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Rev. Bill Crank officiating.



The family will receive friends from 5 � 6 p.m. Thursday and following the celebration service at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make memorial contributions to Heartland Hospice Services, 9 Medical Dr., Cartersville, GA 30120 or to the Georgia Chapter of the Lymphoma Society, 3715 Northside Pkwy. 400, Northcreek Suite 300, Atlanta, GA 30327.
