Mr. Jimmy Woods, age 53, of 1103 Turner Chapel Road, Rome, GA died Thursday, August 4, 2005, following injuries sustained in an automobile accident.A native of Rome and Floyd County, Mr. Woods, was born on May 4, 1952, to Walter S. Woods and the late Ruby Silvers Woods. He had been an active member for over 18 years, and deacon of Pleasant Hope Baptist Church. Mr. Woods was a volunteer for the Brotherhood in his church as well. He was the Assistant Manager of the IBEW Local #84 (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers), worked with Georgia Power for over 30 years, and was president of NGA Labor Council. Mr. Woods loved his grandbabies. He was preceded in death by his mother and his brother, Walter S. Woods III.Mr. Woods is survived by his wife, to whom he married September 20, 1974, Donnie Jean Woods of Rome; a son, David Ray Woods of Rome; two daughters and son-in-law, Ashley Michelle and Joey Watters of Rome, and Jillian Star Woods of Rome; two grandchildren, Gabriella Star Watters of Rome, and Kameron Michelle Smith of Rome; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Nancy and Glenn Starkey of Lexington, SC, Judy Bradshaw of Rome, Laverne and James Burrell of Adairsville, GA; and mother-in-law, Betty Viall of Rome. Six nieces and nephews, Kandie Starkey and Joshua Starkey both of Lexington, SC; Barry Bennett of Adairsville, Timmy Bennett, Wayne Bennett, and Brent Bradshaw all of Rome, also survive.Funeral Services for Mr. Woods will be held Monday, August 8, 2005, at 11 AM in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Dr. Mike Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Floyd Memory Gardens.The family will receive friends this (Sunday) evening from 6 until 8 PM in the chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home. At other hours the family will receive in Woods' home.Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home on Monday by 10:30 AM and include: the Deacons of Pleasant Hope Baptist Church and honorary pallbearers included the Joshua Sunday School Class.Please join Mr. Woods' family in honoring his life by visiting www.jenningsfuneralhome.com to post tributes and share memories.
