Jody James, 51, of Taylorsville, died suddenly Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Cartersville Medical Center. A native of Bartow County, born December 3, 1961, he was the son of the late Harvey James, Jr. and the late Vera Cochran Reid.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepfather, James Leroy Reid and his brothers, Larry James, Jackie James and Robin James. He was of the Baptist Faith, an avid gardener, and was a family man. He was known as "Paw Paw" to almost everyone. Jody and Phyllis were childhood sweethearts and after 30 years apart they re-acquainted and were married.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Thompson James; his son Mitchell James; his daughter, Jessica James; his step-son, Dustin Thompson; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Jannie Sue Conners, Loretta and Glenn Reynolds, Faye and Tommy Horner and Vickie and Tony Mullinax; his brothers and sister-in-law, Roger James and Timmy and Debra James; his grandchildren, Angel, Halie, Hannah and Hope.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Friday, November 29, 2013 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Josh James officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. with the memorial service following at 4:00.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to the Bartow Chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
