Joel Camp

Mr. Joel K. Camp age 92, of Rome, GA, died Monday, August 3, 2009, in a local hospital.



Mr. Camp was born in Floyd County, GA on June 19, 1917 the son of the late George D. Camp and Lois Mae Jones Camp. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the CBI period. Mr. Camp retired from United States Postal Service for twenty-five years. He was a member of the Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 of the American Legion and a member of VFW Post 4911. Mr. Camp volunteered his time for the Floyd County Baptist Association. Also, Mr. Camp worked with the Special Olympics and in the Awana Program for many years. In addition to his parents Mr. Camp was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph W. Camp and a sister, Madeleine Wright.



Survivors include two daughters, Judy C. Dardini of Nevada and Linda C. (Will) Wooster of Canada; four grandchildren, John Kenneth Wooster of Canada, David William Wooster of Canada, Bryan Cameron Mullins of Rome and Meredith Camp Mullins of Reno, Nevada; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Betty Camp of Rome, GA; and a niece and her husband, Kathy and Tim Millican of Rome, GA.



A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 8, 2009, at 2:00 P.M. in the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Oaknoll Chapel with Rev. Ken Oates and the daughters giving the eulogies. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 of the American Legion Honor Guard conducting military graveside rites.



The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour in the Oaknoll Chapel.
