Mr. Joel Dennis Peoples Sr., age 69, of 21 Martin Road of the Coosa Community went home to be with the lord on Friday September 7, 2007.
Mr. Peoples was born in Tarrant County, AL, on October 4, 1937, the son of the late Earl Peoples and Rilla Harper Peoples. He retired from Inland Container, Rome, GA. in 2003 after 42 years of service. Mr. Peoples was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church where he was a member of the Daniel Sunday School Class and The Brotherhood. He loved his Lord, church, family and friends. Mr. Peoples was happy spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed working with flowers and traveling. Mr. Peoples was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Harper Peoples to whom he was married on October 6, 1957; four sons and daughters-in-laws John and Wanda Peoples of Armuchee, GA.; Joel Jr.and Charla Peoples of Adairsville, GA.; Kenneth and Kay Peoples of Silver Creek, GA.; Bruce and LaShawn Peoples of Spring City, Tennessee. One sister Belvia Higgins of Pell City, AL.; one brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Patricia Peoples Pell City, AL. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 10, 2007, at 2:00 P.M. from Lakeview Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Evans and Rev. Mike Slade officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Peoples will remain at the Oaknoll Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Sunday September 9, 2007 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
Pallbearers are asked to meet at the church by 1:30 pm Monday and include David Harper, Chuck Abney and grandsons Chuck Peoples, Cody Peoples, Jarred Peoples Ken Peoples, Logan Dedmon Chris Alford and Bryant Gunter. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Daniel Sunday School Class and include Herbert Harper, Charles Abney, Richard Didrick, Bill Callan, Mark Brown, Bill Waters, Bill Trapp, Max Cooper and Larry Broom.
