Joel Traylor

January 3, 1930 — August 30, 2009

Mr. Joel Hamilton Traylor, age 79, of Rome, GA, died Sunday, August 30, 2009, in a local hospital.



Mr. Traylor was born in Woodland, AL on January 3, 1930, the son of the late George Traylor and Tessie Whitten Traylor. Mr. Traylor was a 1953 graduate of Auburn University with a degree in industrial management. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict as a First Lieutenant. Mr. Traylor was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He retired from General Electric after thirty-three years of service.



Survivors include his wife, Gladys Carter Traylor to whom he was married on November 11, 1954; two daughters, Linda Traylor of Rome, GA and Debra Miller and her husband, Ken of Elk River, MN; and two grandchildren, Huntington Joel Miller and Marie Miller both of Elk River, MN.



A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home with Dr. David Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.



The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home.



The active pallbearers will be Ken Miller and Huntington Miller and are requested to meet in the Oaknoll Chapel on Thursday by 10:30 A.M. The honorary pallbearers will be Kurt Felker, Linden Pierce, Gordon Leiter, and Wyndell Akin.
