On Thursday October 17, 2024, Earnest Joseph (JOEY) Ingram, Jr. was taken to his Heavenly home to be with Jesus. Joey left us at the age of 53 due to multiple chronic medical conditions. Preceding Joey passing was his loving grandparents Earnest R and Constance (CONNIE) Ingram, William B. and Eunice Brown, stepfather Leon Jordan. He left behind to join him later a loving mother Pat Jordan, dad Earnest J (JOE) Ingram, stepmother Emily, two daughters Heather Papp and Ana Ingram, son Christopher Joseph (JOE) Ingram, daughter-in-law Carrie Ingram, son-in-law Keith Papp, granddaughter Bailey Ingram, grandson John Ingram, great uncles and aunts, uncles and aunts, and many cousins, and some dear friends.
A small private Celebration of Joey's life was held in the Studio at Liberty Square Church on October 28, 2024. Joey's cousin Pastor Drew Brown officiated, and Joey's daughter sang accompanied by her close friend. A eulogy given by his son Joseph (also JOE) included a recollection of close family members and friends of experiences with Joey involving many good times. When Joey's pain allowed, he worked on his classic BMWs, antique and modern guns and watches, and woodworking. Joey was multi-talented, but none of those talents are needed in heaven. Joey had a singing talent with a beautiful voice, so we know he will be singing with the Angels.
When he was young, he enjoyed playing football, baseball, riding dirt bikes, boating, and spending many long summers in Florida. He especially loved spending many summers in Cocoa Beach and Panama City Beach with grandparents Earnest and Connie Ingram, dad, mom, and his closest cousin, Terry. He loved doing anything in water, pool or ocean swimming, water skiing and wakeboarding, snorkeling, and scuba diving.
As a young adult he excelled at his first real job of selling new and used Volvos in Atlanta. His love of European Cars grew from that point to a lifelong love of classic BMWs. He bought and sold over a dozen of his 6 Series BMWs and owned 4 of them when he left to go be with Jesus.
After marrying young, he and Rhonda Adams started a family, he moved back to Bailey Hill where he spent many of his early years as a child. He lived in a home there, across the street from his grandparents with his wife, oldest daughter, and son. While there, he began his college education and later earned a BA degree from Shorter College. Joey did this while raising a family, an extended family, and pursuing a career. Joey's career was very successful and resulted in an Executive Position at Manheim in Atlanta. During that time, he began to have heart issues that resulted in multiple medical procedures.
During this period of Joey's life, he met and married his second wife Norma and together they had his youngest daughter Ana of whom he was very proud and who is now in college. Joey loved to travel to Nicaragua and traveled to several other Central America countries and the Bahamas Islands. These trips were wonderful but for him they carried a heavy price including Joey getting several tropical diseases.
A few years later he was rear ended on I-75 going to work and suffered neck and back injuries he never fully recovered from. This accident left him in chronic pain. In the past few years he has lived through pain and adjusted his life to enjoy the things he could do and limited driving due to his health.
His last year was one of Joey's best, in spite of his pain, because he got to spend the summer and fall at Lake Weiss with his family including his baby grandbabies. When the lake was calm and smooth, he rode our pontoon boat, and he also gently rode our Jet skis. He enjoyed sitting on the dock, watching his son clean up Joey's grandfather's bass boat, and held his grandbabies while they were awake and asleep. He'd just returned to Cartersville and planned to work with his dad and son on his classic BMWs when he was called home to be with Jesus. He will be missed by many until we join him again in Heaven.
