John Bell, Jr.

Mr. John Richard Bell, Jr., 75, of Cartersville passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at his residence. A native of Bartow County, born May 3, 1935, he was the son of the late John Richard Bell, Sr. and the late Thelma Mae Tidwell Bell. Mr. Bell was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and was retired from Shaw Industries.

He was a hard worker and loved to stay at home. A humble man, Mr. Bell was a good father, grandfather, and loved his family dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patsy Ruth Elrod Bell; his son, Doyle Jeffery Bell; his brothers, Harrison, Kenneth and Harold Bell; and his sister, Gwendolyn Bell.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Denise Gibson of Cartersville; his step-children, Lamar Crowe, Lisa Crowe and Vick Crowe; his grandchildren, Justin Gibson, Hannah Gibson, Wesley Burch, Hunter Gibson, Dewayne Gayton, Jeffery Gayton, Misty Bell, Crystal Bell, Stephanie Yother, Derrick Bell, Brandon Prather and Charlie Bell; twenty-one great-grandchildren; his siblings, Teresa and John Thurman of Rome, Margie and Steve Johnson of Adairsville, Clifford and Florence Bell of Acworth, Vernon and Faye Bell of Rockmart and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2011 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Huey Holloway officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m., Saturday and will include: Joey Bell, Charles Ely, Gary Shinall, Mark Gibson, Jeffery Gayton and David Williams. Corbin Benedict, Michael Stokes and Cliff Robertson will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 � 9 p.m. Friday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville.
