John Carr

John Harold Carr, 74 of Calhoun, Georgia went home on May 9, 2024. He was born on April 10, 1950 in Atlanta, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his mother, Alice Ruth Day; his wife, Carol Carr; brother Roger Barnette; sister Debbie Day; and his beloved dog, Rosco.

John was an Army Veteran who served in the Vietnam War. He had the biggest heart and loved racing. He loved supporting his grandson race his go kart. He enjoyed hot rod cars and was a very handy mechanic. Most importantly, he loved his grandchildren and animals.

Survivors include his children, Nickie Mathis (Marty) and Shane Carr (Chelsea); grandchildren Allison Mathis, David Mathis, Corey Mathis, Megan Carr, Emily Carr, Hannah Carr, Makenzie Suddeth, and Easton Carr; brother Mike Day; his dogs Kori and Ace; and numerous extended family members.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Parnick Jennings Funeral home with the burial following at Harmony Church Cemetery in Blue Ridge, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at the funeral home.
