Mr. Johnny Cox, age 67, of Euharlee died Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Cartersville Medical Center.
A native of Bartow County, born December 17, 1948, he was the son of the late Lamar Cox and Elizabeth Armstrong Cox. After graduating from Cass High School, Johnny enlisted in the United States Army serving his country with the Military Police in the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he went to work for Georgia Power, retiring from Plant Bowen in 2013. He loved guns, watching NASCAR and the Georgia Bulldogs. Johnny enjoyed spending time with his family, especially building in his workshop with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Eddie Cox and Wesley Cox.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Ferguson Cox; his son Jonathan Cox and his wife, Jill; his daughter, Metta Whitton and her husband, Greg; his grandchildren, Kaley Cox,
Connor Whitton, Brady Cox and Landon Whitton; his sister, Drucilla Maxwell and her husband, Bobby, his brothers, Billy Wayne Cox and wife, Diane and David Cox; along with several special friends, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the Plant Bowen Pavillion at Picklesimer Farm. A private military burial will be held at Georgia National Cemetery at a later date.
