John D. �Jim� LeMay, Jr. passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Cartersville Medical Center. Born in Chattanooga, August 20, 1933, he was the son of the late John Dee LeMay, Sr. and the late Laura Etta Wilbourn LeMay of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee.
He was a faithful member and an active worker of the Church at Liberty Square and the personal prayer partner of Dr. Joe E. Edwards. During his high school years he was a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion in Chattanooga,Tennessee and was the Army base champion at Fort Jackson, SC. Jim was a fifty two year veteran in the carpet industry and was President of Admiralty Mills and Quaker, Incorporated.
Jim served two years in the U.S. Army as a Sgt. in the Corps of Engineers. During his duty in the service he served in the arctic during the Korean Conflict constructing America�s Distant Early Warning System followed by six years in the Army Reserves.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of fifty eight years, Mimi LeMay; his three sons, Dee LeMay and wife Teresa of Cartersville, David LeMay of Kingston, and Neal LeMay of Cartersville; three grandchildren, Laura LeMay, Andrew LeMay and Jillian LeMay Caldwell; two great grandchildren, Emery and Cooper Caldwell.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 24th at the Church at Liberty Square with Dr. Joe E. Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Andrew LeMay, Jim Garner, Dan Clark, Tommy Dial, Jim Bowers and Clay Stewart. Members of the Church Council and Finance Committee and Counting Team will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 � 8 p.m., Saturday at the Church located at 200l Liberty Square Drive NE, Cartersville, Ga.
Flowers will be accepted but for those desiring donations may be made to the Church at Liberty Square in Jim�s memory.
