John Oliver Morris, 91, of Cartersville Georgia, went to his heavenly home on November 3, 2021.
Born on November 22, 1929, he is the son of the late Henry Morris and the late Leecy Phillips Morris. He is also preceded in death by his 1st wife, Hazel Morris; his son, Jeffery Morris; as well numerous brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Morris; children, Johnny (Lynn) Morris, Vivian (Dan) Ritter, Tony (Jeanine) Morris, Angelia (Lee) Woodie, and Myra Oliver; step children, Tim (LaWanda) Day and Rhonda (Kevin) Franklin; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his cat, Missy.
John served in the Army for two years. He loved gardening, fishing, chopping wood for the fireplace, and telling stories. In addition, he loved the Lord and loved reading his bible. He served as a deacon for Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Acworth. John touched the lives of many, and was an inspiration in so many ways. He was an awesome mentor, and always gave the best advice, no matter the question you asked or what your situation was. He was a very humble man who will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, November 8, 2021 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Sam Woodie officiating. Interment will follow at the church's cemetery. The family will receive friends and family from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home.
