Mr. Johnny Lewis Dover, 79, of Cartersville passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Advent Health Redmond in Rome.
Johnny was a maintenance worker by trade and in his spare time he liked watching The Rifleman and Two and a Half Men.
Born on April 10, 1945 in Cartersville, he was the son of the late Clarence Dover and the late Alma Hill Dover. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Wanda Byars Dover; his son, Johnny Michael Dover; sisters-in-law, Judy Hearod, Linda Hightower, Vicky Hulsey, Darlene Byars, and Hope Doering; brothers, Bobby Gene Dover, and Jimmy Lee Dover; special nephew, Daryl Steven Dover; and a brother-in-law, Brian Hopkins.
Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Williams (Tim); his son, Shane Dover (Tammy); his granddaughter, Haley Dover and her fiancé Randy Burnett; great-grandchildren, Mallory Anne Culver, Jayden Michael Culver, and Maci Irene Culver; his brothers-in-law, Cliff Byars (Beth), and Timothy Byars (Lisa); sisters- in-law, Sherry Collins (Wayne), and Molly Smith (Mike); two special friends, Donna and Jesus Osorio; and a special dog, Blackman.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024 in the chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Reverend Timmy Holmes officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
