Joseph Howell

June 7, 1947 — January 1, 2020

Angels rejoiced as Joseph Grant Howell (Paw), age 72, left his earthly body and took his heavenly flight and Jesus welcomed his son into his loving arms January 1, 2020, after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. It was the seventh anniversary of his mother's passing.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Harold (Little Boy) and Marion Boring Howell; his daughter-in-law Emily Chalmers Howell; Brother Jerry Howell; brother-in-law Ray Starnes and his sister-in-law Connie Howells. Joe is Survived by his wife Pattie Howell; daughter and son-in-law Beckie and Keith Pruitt; son Joseph Brent Howell; grandson Jonathan Grant Pruitt; great grandson Owen Grant Pruitt; brothers Randy (Patsy) Howell, Mike Howell; sisters Frankie (Wayne) Allen, Brenda (Harvey) Free, Jennifer Starnes, Joyce (Jim Bo) Carter; sister-in-law Joan Howell and many nieces and nephews.

Joe served in the 196th light infantry brigade in the Army in Vietnam. He is a member of Center Baptist Church. He worked at S & H Machine Shop along with some of his family.

He loved hunting, fishing, taking pictures and working in his garden with all of his dogs right by his side. Most of all he loved being together with all his family, cooking every Sunday and every holiday.

The family ask that you came to honor and celebrate Joe's life. There will be a visitation Monday, January 6th, 2020 4pm – 7pm. His celebration of life will be at the Center Baptist Church 11:30am, Tuesday January 7th, 2020, with the Reverend Dewayne McCreary officiating. Internment will follow at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton with full military rights. The pall bearers will be Scott Allen, Chris Allen, Michael (Munk) Howell, Derick Starnes, Chad Cole and Jacob Allen.

The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Sullivan for his help in the beginning of his illness. Thank you to Dr. Donald Evans, Lamar Tilley and all the wonderful staff at Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation for your help and kindness during the last several years. Everyone at Evergreen became Joe's family and our family, we will be forever grateful for all you have done for us.
