Josephine Allen

August 21, 1933 — January 9, 2025

Josephine Frances Allen, 91 of Cartersville, passed away on January 9, 2025. She was born on August 21, 1933, in Binghamton, New York to the late Sofio Giuffrida and the late Jennie Giovannini Giuffrida. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Allen; daughter, Linda Allen; Son, Barre Allen; brother, Cosmo Giuffrida; and brother, Francis Giuffrida.

Josephine served in the US Air Force where she met her husband, love of her life, and father of her three amazing children- Linda, Becky, and Barre. She spent most of her days with her only son (Barre) until his untimely demise. Josephine had a great devotion to her faith, her grandchildren, and animals. She worked for and retired from Bartow County for 30 plus years. Josephine was also an avid bridge player. She enjoyed having birthday luncheons at Dim Sum, going out shopping, telling stories, and dressing up.

Survivors include her daughter, Becky Allen; grandchildren, James Holmes, Waylon Allen (Heather), Joseph Holmes, Micah Allen, Denver Allen, and Dylan Allen; great-grandchildren, Haven Allen and Lily Allen; sister, Anne Barzyk; and lifelong best friend, Barbara Cowart and sons, Brad Cowart and Bert Cowart.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025, in the Parnick Jennings Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Joseph Hill officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens with Air Force military honors. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service.

Serving as pallbearers will be James Holmes, Waylon Allen, Joseph Holmes, and Brad Cowart.
