Mrs. Josephine Latham Bailey, age 84, of Rome, GA, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004, in a Rome Hospital following a brief illness.Mrs. Bailey was born in Cherokee County, Alabama, January 1, 1920, daughter of the late Joseph Franklin and Grace Langston Latham, but had spent the greater part of her life in Rome and Floyd County. She was educated in the Rome City Schools and was graduated from Rome High School in the Class of 1937. She was associated with the First Baptist Church of Rome for 21 years in the position of financial secretary, retiring in 1982. She was later associated with Auctions United as a secretary. She had been a member of the Riverside Baptist Church for over 60 years, a member of the Ready Sunday School Class and a member of the Riverside Club. She was married to Ernest Roy James December 6, 1941 and he preceded her in death, in 1957, she was later married to Ernest Luther Bailey, June 13, 1959 and he preceded her in death, in 1990. She was also preceded in death by sisters; Lucile Latham McGhee, Jane Latham McGhee, by a twin sister, Earlene Latham and by a brother Robert Howard Latham.Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Ernest Philip and Dee Ann Bailey of Marietta, GA, grandchildren, Lauren and Ryan Bailey of Marietta, niece, Phyllis Smith of Griffin, GA, nephew Joseph McGhee of Lilburn, GA.Funeral services for Mrs. Josephine Latham Bailey will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 3, 2004, in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Lambert and Rev. Bill Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the East View Cemetery.Mrs. Bailey will remain at the Heritage Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 PM.Active Pallbearers include; Donald Traylor, Lamar Sullins, Earl Skeen, Harold Denmon, Ryan Bailey, and David Smith.
