Mrs. Josephine Brooks Ross, 97, of Cartersville passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Townsend Park Health & Rehabilitation.
Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on August 10, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Nancy Lane Lewis Brooks and the late Thomas Franklin Brooks. In addition to her parents she is preceded by her husband, Gale M. Ross; a sister, Jeanette brooks Colquitt and brothers, James O. Brooks and Warren H. Brooks.
Mrs. Ross and her husband owned Ross Department Store and R and B Mill End Store in Cartersville, along with Ross Furniture Store and R and B Mill End Store in Calhoun.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Freda Johnson and Nancy Guyton; a beloved God-Daughter, Patricia McCollum; Gail Montieth, Marjorie Allison, Nancy Smith, Carolyn Johnston, Ernest Ross, Gerald Ross, Ernest Louin Harris, Joyce Brooks Wilder, James O. Brooks, Jr., William Brooks, Bobbie Brooks Young and numerous great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 20, 2014 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Lay Minister Dwain Lee officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Etowah Valley Humane Society, 36 Ladds Mountain Road, Cartersville, Ga. 30120. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Trica Spiney and the nurses and care takers at Townsend Park Health and Rehabilitation.
