Joyce Ann Brownlow

September 18, 1936 — September 14, 2025

Joyce Ann Barmer Brownlow, 88, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, in Cartersville, Georgia.

Born in Barr, Mississippi, Joyce loved her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, playing piano and scrabble, until her disease took that away. It was always a dream of hers to one day write a novel. She never wrote that novel, but her story will live on.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Cynthia B. Smith (Matthew) and Russell Jay Brownlow Sr. (Lynnell); grandchildren Jessica Carter (John), Nathan Smith (Anna), Jennifer Brownlow, Kayleigh Brownlow, Abigail Brownlow, Russell Brownlow Jr., Asher Brownlow, and Gannon Brownlow; and sisters Phyllis Smith (Bobby) and Gloria Powell (Johnny). Her memory lives on also in the hearts of many nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her sons Jack Phillip Brownlow and Roger Dee Brownlow; her parents Hilary Randolph and Anna Merle Barmer; and her brother David Barmer.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at Cartersville Crossing Nursing Home and Rehab, who have been her second family for many years, and the nurses and staff of Georgia Hospice for their compassionate care and support.

Visitation will be held at Parnick Jennings Funeral home, 430 Cassville Rd. Cartersville, GA 30120 Saturday, September 20th, from 2:00-4:00 pm.
