Joyce Tatum Cox, 71, of Cartersville passed away Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Redmond Park Hospital in Rome.

Born October 3, 1942 in Cartersville she was the daughter of the late Olin Tatum and Mattie Leah Wilson Tatum. Mrs. Cox was a lifelong resident of Cartersville and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was a homemaker who loved gardening and working in her home and yard until she was slowed by Fibromyalgia.

Survivors include her husband of fifty years, Dean Cox; her sisters and brother-in-law, Brenda Bearden and Nancy and Charles Law; her brother and sister-in-law, William and Karen Tatum; her niece, Leigh Lockwood; her nephews, Brian Bearden, Brett Davis and Calen Casey; and special friend, Jeremiah Mitchell, who would introduce Joyce as his "grandmother."

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2013 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with the Reverend Paul Battles officiating. Interment will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Monday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Bearden, Brett Davis, Calen Casey, Johnny Siniard, Louie Varner and Jeremiah Mitchell.

In lieu of flowers those desiring may make memorial contributions in Mrs. Cox's memory to The Advocates for Children, PO Box 446, Cartersville, GA 30120.
