Joyce Sanford Dickson, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19th, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on January 4th, 1944, Joyce lived a life full of love, dedication, and creativity, leaving behind cherished memories for all who knew her.
Joyce dedicated 41 years of her career to Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, where her hard work and commitment were admired by colleagues and friends alike. Following her retirement, Joyce embraced her love for travel, frequently visiting Pigeon Forge and Daytona Beach, and relishing the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also found joy in crafting, particularly ceramics, and shared her creations with those she loved.
Joyce spent her final years at Manor Lake Assisted Living, where she formed many dear friendships and was known for her warm spirit and kindness. Her presence will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, McArthur Dickson; her parents, Thomas Sanford Sr. and Texana Sligh Sanford; her brother, Jack Sanford; her sister, Nancy Castleberry; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Michelle Whitney and her husband Reid; her son, Michael Dickson and his wife Candis; her grandchildren, Todd Caldwell and his wife Amy, and Tyler Caldwell and his wife Allison; and her great-grandchildren, Levi Caldwell and Kylie Caldwell.
Visitation will be held at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cartersville, GA, on Thursday, May 21st, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm. A funeral service will follow at the same location at 2:00 pm. Burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery after the service.
Joyce will be lovingly carried to her final resting place by pallbearers Tyler Caldwell, Levi Caldwell, Marty Castleberry, Tommy Sanford, Tyler Lanham, and Tanner Lanham. Honorary pallbearers are Kylie Caldwell, Tara Lanham, and Trevor Lanham.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joyce's memory can be made to the Hunts Cemetery Fund. Contributions may be sent to Kelly Wilson, 10900 Cartersville Hwy, Dallas, GA 30132.
