Joyce Conner Moon Jacks, 79, of Cartersville died Friday, October 9, 2009 at the Cartersville Medical Center. Born July 22, 1930 in Fulton County, she was the daughter of the late Claud Anderson Conner and the late Ollie Agnes Lee Conner. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Moon; her second husband, Dr. James Jacks; her sister, Brilla Conner; her nephew, David Conner; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Conner.
Joyce was employed as a nurse and had started her nursing career with the Powder Springs Hospital and the Dallas Hospital. She was a member of Spring Street Baptist Church in Smyrna. Joyce was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a former Girl Scout Leader. She loved reading and writing and had written a song that won a competition when she was in school.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Theresa and Richard Gore of Acworth, Wayne and Diane Moon of Cartersville, Tim Moon of Madison, LaDonna and Woodrow Huskins of Cartersville, Jim and Jennifer Jacks of Acworth, and Derick and Sam Newberry of Atlanta; her grandchildren, Richard and Deanna Gore, Alisha and Larry Wilbert, Bobby and Stephanie Moon, Tracy and Ted Garner, and Sebastian Jacks; her great-grandchildren, Leslie Gore, Meghan Moon, and Matthew Garner; her brothers and sister-in-law, Vernon and Ruth Conner of Canton and Donald Conner of Jacksonville; a special nephew, Darrin Conner and his family; a special niece, Olga Wring and her family; a special cousin, Audrey Mae Terrell; and a special friend, Dawn Stone.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Crossroads Baptist Church in Acworth with the Rev. Harold Tuner and the Rev. B.E. Butler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Jacks will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
The family will receive friends from 6 � 9 p.m. Sunday and 5 � 9 p.m. Monday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
