Mrs. Joyce T. Watters, age 62, of Silver Creek, GA, died Sunday, October 11, 2009 .
Mrs. Watters was born in Floyd County, GA on June 21, 1947, the daughter of the late Boyd Edwin Tate and Mary Jean Griffin Tate. Mrs. Watters attended Pepperell High School. She was employed as a secretary with Rome Manufacturing Company with 27 years of service. Mrs. Watters was an active member of the Hollywood Baptist Church. Mrs. Watters loved
being with her family and adored her granddaughter. She loved cooking for her family and sewing. In addition to her parents Mrs. Watters� was preceded in death by her beloved aunt and uncle, Grady and Mae Hogan.
Survivors include her husband, J. W. �Doomer� Watters, to whom she was married, November 5, 1963; daughter Pam Minter and her husband Randy of Silver Creek, GA, granddaughter, Kacie Minter of Jacksonville, AL; sister, Doris LuAllen and her husband Gene of Silver Creek, GA, brother, Larry Tate of Cloudland, GA; mother-in-law, Edythe Watters; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Watters; brother-in-law, Franklin Roberson; step-grandchildren, Chris Minter of Rome, GA and Eric Minter of Summerville, GA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Don Spears and Cecil Waters officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home. At other hours the family be contacted at the residence of her daughter, Pam Minter, 8 Misty Ridge Drive, Silver Creek, GA.
The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 A.M.: Mark Maxwell, Kris Crider, Chris Minter, Eric Minter, Daron Roberson and Pete Catalano. Honorary pallbearers include: Houston Franklin Roberson, Stanley Walker, Cecil Waters, Gene LuAllen, Stanley Tate, Bradley Kiser and also the members of Mrs. Watters Sunday School Class at Hollywood Baptist Church.
