J.P. Stone, Jr.

Mr. J.P. Stone, Jr age 78, of 920 County Road 707, Cedar Bluff, Alabama, died Wednesday, September 7, 2005.Mr. Stone was born in Fairmount, GA on March 1, 1927, the son of the late Johnnie Price Stone, Sr. and Lottie Eliza Nelms. He retired from Celanese as supervisor of the warehouse in shipping and also worked in the Accounting Department. After retirement he worked as an auditor at Douglas Guardian Warehouse Corporation. Mr. Stone was of the Baptist Faith and served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion for around fifty years where served on the executive board as junior and senior vice commander and also served as adjutant. He was a member of the Forty and Eight and also served with Rome-Floyd County Civil Defense Auxiliary Police Service as an Assistant Chief. Mr. Stone is survived by two sons: Johnnie Stone of Rome, GA and Michael Lee Stone of TN; two daughters, Lelia Arnell Adams of Rome, GA and Donna Kay Baker of Rome, GA; two grandchildren, Dustin and Beth Adams both of Rome, GA; and one brother, G.W. Stone of Rome, GA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services will be held Monday, September 12, 2005, at 2:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Adams officiating.
