Mr. James Thomas (J.T.) Hunt, 82, of Cartersville passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the Heartland Hospice House. Born March 26, 1926 in Kennesaw, he was the son of the late Mark Hunt and the late Rosalee Chastain Hunt. J.T. was also preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Joan Stewart Hunt, and his brother, Joe Hunt.
J.T. was the owner and operator of Hunt Antiques. Many of the homes in Cartersville are filled with antiques lovingly restored by J.T. and his family. J.T. was a veteran of the United States Army having served during WW II. He was also a member of Friendship Baptist Church and a regular at Cody J's.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Aledia and Terry Vaughan of Cartersville; his grandson, Travis Vaughan and his wife, Katie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Friendship Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Mauldin, Raymond Womack, Larry Hobgood, Jeff Baxter, Willie Cabe, and Buddy Stewart. Pallbearers are requested to be at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. on Thursday.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
