Katherine Payne

Mrs. Katherine Louise Dorsey Payne, age 69, died Monday, September 19, 2016 at Cartersville Medical Center. She was born in Cobb County on May 23, 1947, the daughter of the late Henson C. Dorsey and Edna L. Chumley Dorsey.

Mrs. Payne was a member of Manarbor Baptist Church in Marietta and was retired from Glad Manufacturing as an inspector. She was an avid gardener and made and sold crafts. She worked hard but always had time to spend time with her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Mrs. Payne is preceded in death by her parents; her son-in-law, Bobby Cantrell; her grandson, Brandon Cantrell; a sister, Joyce Dorsey and brother, Clay Dorsey.

Survivors include her daughters, Sheila Cantrell and Carolyn Eddy (Tommy); her son, Michael Payne; her grandchildren, Jessi Rowan (Taylor), Katelin Payne, Drake Eddy, Drew Eddy and Levi Payne; and great-grandchildren, Braelyn Rowan and Everetta Rowan.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 22, 2016 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Billy Edmondson officiating. Interment will follow in Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta. The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Drake Eddy, Drew Eddy, Taylor Rowan, Chris Storey, Johnny Smith, Donnie Adams and Hunter Adams.
