Kathryn Self

Mrs. Kathryn (Pete) Self, age 84, of 12 Poplar Street, Rome, GA, died Thursday morning, July 15, 2004, at the residence of her daughter, following an extended illness.Mrs. Self was born October 13, 1919 in Jefferson County, Alabama, daughter of the late Jefferson William and Dovie Sims Harmon but had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County, since 1929. She was a graduate of Rome High School class of 1938. She was a member of the St. Luke United Methodist Church and prior to retirement she had been associated with Riverside Federal Credit Union for over 15 years. She was married to the late O.T. Self who preceded her in death May 3, 2001, and was also preceded in death by a brother, William Harmon, sisters; Leona Mae and Dorothy Harmon, Marguerite Brown, Eloise Davis, and Evelyn Milhollin. She enjoyed gardening, working with her flowers, baking and playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.Survivors include; a daughter and son in law, Julie and Dexter Presley, a son and daughter in law, Doug and Gloria Self all of Rome, five grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral and interment services for Mrs. Kathryn (Pete) Self will be held Saturday, July 17, 2004, at 11 AM from the graveside of the Sunset Hills Memory Gardens with J. Parnick Jennings, Sr. officiating. Mrs. Self will remain at the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Saturday beginning at 10AM.
