Kenneth Horace Holmes, 60, of Cartersville, died Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Cartersville Medical Center. Born October 21, 1948 in Pickens County, he was the son of the late John Horace Holmes and the late Ethel Onida Long Holmes. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Johnson.



Kenneth had been employed as a receiving clerk at Shaw Industries and was also a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and especially loved to spend time with his grandchildren.



Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-laws, Chris and Renae Holmes of Adairsville, and Brad and Angie Holmes of Kingston; sisters, Ruth Duvall of Cartersville, Betty Duvall of Cartersville, and Dianne Melton of Calhoun; his grandchildren, Daulton Holmes, Walker Holmes, Corey Elrod, Katelyn Holmes, Haley Holmes, and Haven Amos; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Ronnie Hartness.



Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Brent Tatum and the Rev. Donnie Summey officiating. Burial will

follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Holmes will lie in state at the church from 1 � 2 p.m. on Tuesday.



Serving as pallbearers are Chris Holmes, Scott Duvall, Mike Kiser, Ricky Johnson, Shane Melton, and Tony Duvall. These gentlemen are asked to be at the church by 12:45 p.m. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Emory Hazlewood, Matthew Melton, Richard Long, Joe Palmer, Johnny Forsyth, Roger Holden, Mark Melton, and Chuck Nichols.





The family will receive friends from 5 � 9 p.m. Monday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville GA 30120.
