Kenneth Ray Smith, age 68, of Milledgeville, formerly of Cartersville, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008. Born in Cobb County on Oct. 29, 1939, he was the son of the late Carl Henry Smith and Gladys Inez Nation Smith. He was retired from Bartow County Sheriff�s Department. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Jean Hale.



Kenneth loved the Lord and was a member of Emerson Baptist Church. He loved his family and friends, especially his mother; and loved to sing and listen to gospel music.



Survivors include his sister, Barbara Woodie of Woodstock; one daughter, Michelle Chapman of Talking Rock, Georgia; his two grandsons, Greg and Michael Chapman of Dawsonville; and several nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Rex Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Pallbearers are asked to meet at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. and will include: Bill Cantrell, Jerry Bevil, David Williams, Greg and Michael Chapman, Billy Ray Hale, Jr. and Scottie Hale. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Doyle Williams and George Smith. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6 � 9 p.m.
