Laura Gibbs

Laura Massey Gibbs, 98, of Cartersville passed away on Friday, May 25, 2007 at her daughter's residence. Born on November 16, 1908 in Bartow County, she was the daughter of the late James Ross Massey and the late Georgia Gravley Massey. One of 10 children, Ms. Gibbs was the last surviving child. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Jesse Hardin and Jack Hardin, and her grandson, Johnny Hardin.

Survivors include her daughter, Katherine Bell of Cartersville; her grandchildren, Charlotte and Ed Harden, Kenny and Millie Bell, Jimmy and Helen Hardin, Janie and Ray Gravley, all of Cartersville, Carl and Jean Bell of South Carolina, and Judy and Kenneth McCoy of Alabama; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Charles Greenway officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cartersville. Serving as pallbearers will be Doug Thacker, Jon Thacker, Stephen Bell, Michael Bell, Crawford Walden, and Tim Brown.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 9 p.m. on Saturday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 300 W. Emery St., Suite 106, Dalton, GA 30720.
