Lawrence Jarrett

July 13, 1934 — February 27, 2012

Mr. Lawrence Melvin Jarrett, 77, of Cartersville, died Monday, February 27, 2012 at his residence. A native of Bartow County, Mr. Jarrett was born July 13, 1934 to the late John James Jarrett and the late Mary Moore Jarrett. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of fifty four years, Dorothy (Dot) Jane Shook Jarrett; brothers, Alvin, J.O., Howard, Dewitt and Fred Jarrett; and his sisters Margaret Shook and Mamie Jo Jarrett Cowart.



Mr. Jarrett worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 33 1/2 years before retiring. He was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force as Airman 2nd Class. He attended Cassville Baptist Church and Oak Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Jarrett served as a deacon at both Cassville Baptist and Oak Grove Baptist and was a visiting preacher for many years. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, building things, playing the guitar, and playing pool at the Beavers Drive Senior Center.



He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Gail Jarrett Taylor and husband, Crawford; his son-and daughter-in-law, Jeffery Michael Jarrett and wife, Marianna; his grandchildren, Alexandra Elizabeth Taylor, Leah Renee� Jarrett and Theodore �Theo� James Jarrett.



Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 1, 2012 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Reverend Benny Thomas and Reverend Mark Somers officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens with American Legion Carl Boyd #42 in charge of full military graveside rites.



Deacons of Oak Grove Baptist Church and Cassville Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.



The family will receive friends from 5 � 8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.



In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church, 312 Burnt Hickory Rd. SW, Cartersville, Ga. 30120 and Cassville Baptist Church, 1663 Cassville Rd. NW, Cassville, Ga. 30123.



Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Lawrence Melvin Jarrett.
