Mr. Lawrence Ray Pendley, 87, of Cartersville, died Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Maple Ridge Health Care Center, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease.
Born September 11, 1925 in Tilton, Georgia, he was a son of the late Roy Vernon Pendley and the late Jewell Ramsey Pendley. Lawrence was of the Baptist Faith and was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He was the founder of Pendley Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. Lawrence enjoyed hunting, including trips to Colorado, Texas, and Mexico, fishing, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed Braves Baseball, football and racing. In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by his brothers, Millard, Melvin, Vernon, James, Ottis, Floyd, Doyle, and Ralph; and a sister, Evelyn.
Survivors include his best friend and mother of his children, Anne Pendley; daughter, Jane Groce and her husband Trenton; son, Lamar Pendley and his wife Melody; grandchildren, Kevin Groce, Chad Groce, Candace Groce, Callie Palmer, and Carreth Jarrett; great-grandchildren, Blake Groce, Halen Groce, Jesslin Groce, Morgan Groce, George Palmer, and Pendley Jarrett; great-great-grandchild, Kyndall Groce; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with The Reverend Dr. Don Hattaway officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 15, 2012 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Flowers will be accepted and the family suggests that those who wish may make donations to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, Post Office Box 4777, NY, NY 10163-4777 in memory of Mr. Pendley.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Roger Pendley, Bill Graham, Gary Temples, Mike Jones, Frankie Duren, Gene Pendley, and John Hale.
