Mr. Lenwood Dick "L.D." Anthony, age 89, of 536 Turner Bend Road, Rome, GA, died Friday, August 03, 2007, in a local hospital.
Mr. Anthony was born in Itawamba County, Miss., on August 25, 1917, the son of the late W. Cleburn and Buena Vista McFadden Anthony. He had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County for the greater part of his life. Prior to retirement in 1979 Mr. Anthony was a brick mason. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II, and was involved in 5 major theatres of operation. Mr. Anthony loved hunting and fishing and was a member of the Floyd County Wildlife Club. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Hazel K. Anthony, and a brother, Clint Anthony.
Mr. Anthony is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Marc and Kim Anthony of Birmingham, AL, Ronald Anthony of Duluth, GA, and Izaak and Flo Anthony of Rome; one step-son, David Kuykendall of Rome; eight grandchildren, Rachel Anthony, Rebecca Anthony, Kelsi Anthony, Laney Anthony, Sydney Anthony, Beau McKinney, Spence McKinney and Ashley McKinney.
A memorial service for Mr. Anthony will be held on Sunday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home.
