Leila �Jo� Teat Hamilton, 92, of Cartersville and formerly of Emerson passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the Maple Ridge Health Care. Born October 8, 1917 in Lake Creek, she was the daughter of the late William S. Teat and the late Ida Tate Teat. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Earl Hamilton; her daughter, Weltha Dawn Hamilton; her brother, Howard Lowry Teat; and her sister, Clara Willene Teat Finger.
�Jo� was a member of Emerson Baptist Church for 60 plus years and an Emeritus Member of the Order of Eastern Star Cartersville Chapter #329. She was a retired inspector from Nantucket Industries. Nannie Jo� as she was known to some, will always be remembered as one who loved her family dearly. She spent her life trying to please others and being the polite hostess to her friends and guest.
Survivors include her children; daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Charles Hendricks of Cartersville; her sons and daughters-in-law, Carroll S. and Vickie Hamilton and Lowry and Lesia Hamilton, all of Cartersville; her grandchildren, Chuck and Paula Hendricks, LaCinda and Billy Jones, Natalie and Brandon Adams, Bryan Hamilton, Katie Hamilton and April Hamilton; her great-grandchildren, Christiane Cochran, Ariel Hendricks, BreAnna Jones, Nolan Hendricks, Emma Adams, Lacie Hamilton, and Maverick Adams; her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Annette Harris, Georgie and Al Ondik, and Juanita Hamilton; her nephew, William (Bill) Teat of Armuchee; and several other extended members of the Hamilton family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 9, 2010 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Bryan Hamilton, Rev. Charles Ivey and Rev. Charles Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Emerson Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jo�s grandsons and nephew, Bill Teat. Honorary pallbearers will include O.E.S. Chapter #329; special friends, Ray and Pam MacAloney; Sue Bevill; Carey Evans; Bill Popham; and Jo�s nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 � 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 8, 2010 with the Order of the Eastern Star ceremony at 8 p.m. at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville, GA 30120.
