Mrs. Leona Smith Upshaw, 99, of Cartersville, widow of the late Garland F. Upshaw, died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Cartersville Heights.
Born January 16, 1913 in Huntsville, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Robert J. Smith and the late Lula Belle Erwin Smith. Mrs. Upshaw was a member of First Congregational Methodist. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother and 4 sisters.
Survivors include her daughters, Betty Riggins of Augusta, and Nancy Upshaw of Cartersville; granddaughters, Robin Howard and her husband James, Kim Newcomb and her husband Mike, and Pat Miller and her husband Glen; 4 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; dear friend, Donna Avalos and her husband Jose.
Funeral Services will be held at the graveside on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in Sunset Memory Gardens with The Reverend Wayne Rice officiating.
