Lila Sharp

August 6, 1914 — March 2, 2011



Mrs. Lila Mae Newberry Sharp, 96, of Cartersville passed away Wednesday, March 02, 2011 at Maple Ridge Health Center. She was born in Canton, Georgia August 6, 1914, and was the daughter of the late James W. Newberry and the late Mary Mae Welchel Newberry. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 51 years, Everett Howard Sharp; her son, Major Gerald K. Sharp U.S. Army Retired; and four brothers.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cartersville. Mrs. Sharp was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company where she was a nurse for many years. She enjoyed her travels all over the world, along with music and quilting with her many friends. Most of all Mrs. Sharp just loved her family

above everything.



Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, John Franklin Sharp and wife, Emily of Grand Bay, Alabama; her daughter, Suellen Sharp Chapman of Cartersville and fiance� Eddie Waddell of Taylorsville; her sisters, Kathryn Smith of Cartersville, Edna Brumbelow of Marietta, Sandra Teague of Marietta and Audrey Hollingshed of Kennesaw; her brother Ron Newberry of Augusta; her grandchildren, Vicky Sharp Giles, Terry Sharp Gaunt, Kathleen Sharp, Lisa Maree Harris, Jennifer Rae Ryan, Cynthia Sharp Carter, John Franklin Sharp III, Gerald Kenneth Sharp, Jr. and Jade Gaston Sharp; her great-grandchildren, Tori Lee, Lorien Moran, Chelsey Giles, Sarah Jordan Murray, Jessica Marie Ryan, Jonathan Lawrence Ryan, Dallas Sharp and Adam Carter; two step-grandchildren, Chelsea Armstrong and Jordan Armstrong: and a great-great grandson, Mason Moran.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2011 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Reverend Bradley Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home for two hours prior to the service.
