Mr. Linwood Camp Turner, age 83, of 98 Willow Drive, Dallas, GA , died Tuesday, September 4, 2007, in a hospital.
Mr. Turner was born in Floyd County on March 31, 1924, the son of the late Rev. William Marion Turner and Lizzie (Zona) Camp Turner. Mr. Linwood served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. He retired from Boren Clay Products. In addition to his parents Mr. Turner is preceded in death by his wife, Ollie Cochran Turner; a son, Steve Turner; and ten brothers and sisters.
Mr. Turner is survived by a son, Dennis Turner of FL; a daughter, Jan Turner of FL; and a sister and brother-in-law, Vivian Turner Fricks and Fred Fricks of Dallas, GA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 7, 2007, at 2:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Gilbert and Rev. Archie Streetman officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens with Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion Honor Guard conducting military graveside rites.
Mr. Turner will remain in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home on Friday by 1:30 P.M.: Roy Holmes, Gene Evans, Bill Foster, Larry Gilbert, Johnny Wallace, and Kenny Foster.
